ROBINSON, Carmen Leigh

Carmen Leigh Robinson

Carmen Leigh Robinson, 78 of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 6, 1939 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Atwood Harvey and Phyllis Harvey. Carmen grew up in Washington, DC and later Takoma Park, MD. She graduated from Takoma Academy. She then married the late Louis Nathaniel Robinson and lovingly raised her 4 children in Berwyn Heights, MD. Carmen was a beautiful woman inside and out. In her younger days, people would tell her that she resembled Sophia Loren. Carmen worked for the Federal Government for 30 years, mostly at the National Institutes of Health and several years at National Institute of Standards And Technology. Carmen’s favorite pastime was dancing. She loved listening to good music, especially Elvis Presley, and dancing the night away. She was the most down-to-earth person with a tremendous sense of humor. She never met a stranger. One of her most endearing traits was her natural ability to nurture. She absolutely shined when a relative or friend was in need. She was never stingy with her hugs and kisses, especially for her grandchildren and her many pets. She had a fierce love and pride for her children and was never afraid to show it. Carmen’s final years were spent at Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown, MD. She had a great relationship with the staff at Coffman. We can’t thank them enough for the wonderful care and support they provided her, especially her dear friend and confidante, Alex King. Carmen will be terribly missed. But the sweet memories of her will remain in our hearts forever until we’re able to see her again.
Carmen is survived by her favorite brother, Doyle “Butch” (Joanie) Harvey, her children, Daniel Robinson of Hedgesville, WV, John Robinson of Hilton Head, SC, Pamela (Charles) Stultz of Frederick, MD, Teresa (Kenneth) Lemere of Frederick, MD; grandchildren, Travis Robinson, Dylan Robinson, Austin Lemere, Sean Lemere, and Dominic Stultz; great-grandchildren, Isabella Robinson and Kaiden Robinson. She is also survived by many other loving family members and friends. Carmen was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Robinson.
